Dog Training Advice: Take Control of Feeding

When I first got Carmel, she was a very excitable dog. She was a rescue (like all my dogs) which meant she came with some bad behaviors. Carmel was 2 years old when I got her which added more problems with training. But...

Old Dogs Can Learn New Tricks

At first Carmel would go nuts at feeding time. She would jump and bark. She ran in circles. It was a real problem. This behavior had to stop!

Here is what I did to stop the behavior in 2 short weeks!
  1. I made sure I was calm when I fed her.
  2. I did not speak to her during the process. No praise and No correction.
  3. If she started jumping, I stopped what I was doing. I only continued when she calmed down.
That's it. That is all I did and she learned:

CALM = Food
